Meet Us
Us...the members of The Swiss Folk Dance Club Alpenroesli are a group of
enthusiastic women, who get together on Monday evenings to practice our Swiss
folk dances. Our "all-women" dancers enjoy dancing, socializing, and the good
laughs we have on Monday evenings. It's fun to learn new dances, work with each
other and also being able to perform in the community a few times a year. Some of
our dancers have visited and observed folk dance groups in Switzerland to make
sure we keep the authenticity of the dances. Others had been actively involved for
many years in folk dance groups in Switzerland.
The most popular events are the Fondue dance in November, performing at the
"Jodlerabig" of the Yodel Club Heimattreu in April and at the Cowboy Festival in
Airdrie in May.
Our president or designate attend the Advisory Council meeting of all Swiss Clubs.
We are contributors to the local Swiss newsletter and consider ourselves an active
contributor to the Swiss community. We are a donor member with the
Schweizerische Trachtenvereinigung. The Swiss Folk Dance Club Alpenroesli is
registered with the City of Calgary, as well as with the Alberta Cultural Registry.
